If you’re considering publishing and wondering what the process looks like, you’re not alone. These are some of the most common questions I receive from authors before getting started.
Do I need a finished manuscript before contacting you?
Not at all. Some authors come to me with a completed manuscript, while others are still in the idea or outline stage. I’m happy to meet you where you are and help you determine your best next step.
Do you work with first-time authors?
Yes — many of my clients are publishing their very first book. I intentionally guide you through each step so you never feel lost or overwhelmed.
What types of books do you work with?
I primarily work with nonfiction, memoir, faith-based, and message-driven books. Many of my clients are ministry leaders, speakers, coaches, or first-time authors who feel called to share a message that matters.
What does your publishing process look like?
Every project is customized, but generally the process includes manuscript preparation, formatting, cover design, publishing setup, and final review. I walk alongside you step-by-step so you always know what’s happening and what comes next.
Will I be involved in decisions during the process?
Absolutely. This is your book, and your voice and vision matter. I provide professional guidance and recommendations, but you remain part of the decision-making process throughout.
How long does publishing usually take?
Timelines vary depending on the book’s length, readiness, and the services needed. Most projects are completed within a few weeks to a couple of months. I’ll always provide a realistic timeline before we begin so expectations are clear.
Do I keep the rights to my book?
Yes. You retain full ownership and rights to your work. My role is to help you publish professionally while ensuring your book remains yours.
Do you take royalties from my book sales?
No. Once your book is published, the royalties are paid directly to you through the publishing platform. I’m paid for the services I provide — not from your book sales.
Is this a vanity press?
No. I operate using a professional service-based publishing model. That means you receive high-quality publishing support, transparent pricing, and clear deliverables while maintaining ownership and control of your book.
What’s included in your publishing services?
Services vary based on your needs, but may include manuscript preparation, formatting (print and/or ebook), publishing setup (such as Amazon KDP and other platforms), and support through the final proof stage. If you need a cover design or other add-ons, I’ll outline those clearly before we begin.
Can you help if my manuscript needs editing?
Yes. I do provide light editing and manuscript preparation support as part of certain services. If your manuscript needs deeper editing, we can discuss options and determine the best next step before moving into publishing.
Will my book be available on Amazon and other retailers?
Yes. Most books I help publish are available on Amazon, and expanded distribution options may be available depending on your goals. I’ll help you choose the setup that best fits your audience and message.
Do you help with marketing or launching my book?
Marketing is ultimately the author’s responsibility, but I do provide guidance to help you prepare for your launch. I also have optional add-on support available for authors who want help beyond guidance. If you’re unsure what you need, I can point you toward simple next steps.
How do we communicate during the process?
Communication is simple and streamlined. Most updates and project details are handled through email so you can easily reference everything. If a call is needed, we can schedule one.
How do I get started?
Simply reach out through the contact form and share a little about your book and where you are in the process. From there, I’ll guide you through next steps and let you know what options fit your needs best.
If you’re not sure what you need yet, that’s completely okay. Many authors reach out before they have everything figured out. Whether you have a full manuscript or just an idea on your heart, I’m happy to help you determine your best next step.
I personally review every inquiry and will follow up with you soon.
